My 1992 Subaru Legacy Turbo wagon (what else) has just clocked 250,000 km. Sticks to the road well, but loves gas and eats a lot of small parts. Broken cooling water crossover pipe (needed to remove exhaust to get at it), broken central locking(fixed with parts from wrecker). Failed air mass sensor (wrecker). Jamming ABS solenoid(a belt with a hammer fixes it for about 6 months). Failed keyless entry(who cares). Mechanics love Subarus, but never own them.
No Al, I will not be persuaded to buy your altima, as I have my eyes on a 4wd nissan stagea 2.5. As the motor looks the same, I reckon I can fit the hair drier off a GTS25T. Woohoo. Because we have so many secondhand jap imports here, older cars are almost throwaway items. The best way to overcome the yellow light syndrome is to cut the yellow light wiring. Unless you have the model that brings up an orange light to tell you the yellow light isnt working.

Cheers

Steve

my good car (rarely drive it..94 nissan altima) has retractable aerial.... i dont like all these gimmicks, i want a car that the CV boot joints dont perpetually fail, that everything doesnt break at once at 100k. I bought it (used) cause it got the highest "reliability?" rating.

Yellow light came on.... some damn sensor i dont need $299 parts $95 labour $35 shop supplies.
(plug and play parts)
Aerial not extend/retracting price to fix. $413. It took me <3 minutes and about 4c in "3 in 1" sewing machine oil. Worked fine again now... for over 4months.
Remote lock doesnt work $199 for new keylock button. I just do it the good old way.
I was told its an "old car" even at 33k. I know what steve will say. They have jap NIssan taxis at 10x that mileage not considered "Old".
i know steve's image would go up about six notches if he had this car.

Al, this on the side. The problem with Macs...

They are not coffee proof. My oldest is in university in Chicago. She just happened to spill coffee on her $2000 Mac laptop. Dead. Now they want $1200 to clean up the coffee spill and fix it. That goes without saying, no determination was made as to components that were damaged. At this juncture, the cure may be a hair dryer, or hope it dries out and comes back alive.

>The part I liked was his comment on taxation without >representation, the reason for our forefathers fighting for independence. Read _Founding Brothers_ by someone named Ellis. It'll give you a better handle on what people really fought for after the gunplay was over. The stories we get in school are stupid and boring by comparison with what actually happened between people like Hamilton, Jefferson and Adams. Makes you respect them even more and makes you realize how close run things really were.
