Yeah,
I agree with Gordon, In our company too, civil engineers need data in Hydro case, Operating case & empty pipe. They never ask for wind & seismic loads which I presume are taken care my some other means. Bye

  1. You can ALWAYS use the CAESAR outputs as inputs for foundation design.
  2. The design of foundations is a specialist area and your civil engineer should give you guidance on what he wants. Our civil engineer prefers to see all of our load cases and he combines them as HIS design criteria dictate. In general he wants to see two operating cases, one with the weight of the pipe and all sustained loads, with the pipe full, and one with the pipe empty. I also find that he is generally not interested in our wind or seismic loads, he works those out himself. I get the impression that civil engineers have different work practices in different countries. I recommend you ask your civil engineer what he requires. CAESAR can definitely deliver.

[PipingDesign] Civil Foundation Design for Pipe Support

Out of the Following 3 cases, which load is MORE realistic in the    Design of Support Foundations?

  1. Static Load (Weight of Pipe,Fittings and Fluid for the given Span)
  2. Maximum Load out of the CAESAR output as listed below:
    1. Sustained Load (Equivalent to case 1 above)
    2. Operating Load
    3. Expansion Load
  3. Maximum Load out of all the Cases above.

   In other words,
   I wanted to know
whether we can use the CAESAR Load outputs    as an input for Support Foundation Design or not.

   With warm regards,

   Balakrishnan
