You may like to see the ASTM standard E262 Practice E
which covers the IGC tests for SS 316 grades. If I
remeber it well it is also termed as Copper- Copper
sulfate solution test and samples are tested to assure
that the material quality is good enough to resist
such corrosion in actual corrossive service.
