Sir,
Thanks for the information. But if look at ASTM A 312 & ASTM A 182, IGC test is an supplementary requirements. So I want to know that what are the criteria for recommending IGC test. Is it used for highly corrosive services, if yes than how do you define highly corrosive service.

You may like to see the ASTM standard E262 Practice E which covers the IGC tests for SS 316 grades. If I remeber it well it is also termed as Copper- Copper sulfate solution test and samples are tested to assure that the material quality is good enough to resist such corrosion in actual corrossive service.
