Dear all specialists,

I obtained information from Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institurte that the leak test pressure done for cast iron pipe using water should be 4.3 psi (10 ft) and using air was 6 psi. I am practicing 1.5 times of the operating pressure as the hydrostatic test pressure, which was different than the recommended pressure by the institute. I wonder whether what I am practicing now were for the strength test of the pipe but not the leak test. Is the leak test pressure recommended by the institute also valid for other material pipe ?

Please guide me.

Regards,

cckla
