The pipe is fixed at two ends so friction is not comminf into pictute. So the fotce will be only because of change in length. Any way what you are saying is right.

My statement was :
When a staight pipe fixed at two ends and is resting on the surface is heated it will push the ends with some force. (depends on area of cross section , modulous of Elasticity and Change in length would have occured if the pipe is free to grow.).
