I saw a schematics of a pipeline with limited data in between two gas production fields. The part which came into my concern is the Subsea Tieback Umbilical. It shows that it connects two different plems at two different locations.

My question is, does anybody have the idea what is the purpose of such installation - and the material is it something like a flexible pipe or a common carbon steel pipeline?

Thanks.
