if you look at any boiler operating manual eg. Weil McCleans is a good example
or at the tekmar literature for the control systems for such boilers there is alwaysa
characteristic curve which defines the stop and start points for heating for the summer winter cycles. A shallow curve indicates a slow heating system with high thermal mass eg cast iron. a steep is quick trunaround lie a jetco copper tube boiler and so on.

can anyone discribe what a "Charateristic curve for a hot water heating systems" is ? I have a New York Engineering firm requesting the mechanical contractor "The Mcbride Company" for one and no one in our office has ever heard of this please help
