Dear Paul
I do not know what is wrong with my computer or the link u introduced .I wanted
to write my comments there but couldn't,since the texts got mixed altogether and
the area reserved for commenting just accepted two lines and no more typing was
possible!!
But since the subject was very interesting for me I have decided to write down
here, my apology!
Internet , this holy invention of the past decade has introduced some sort of
revolution in my life as an Iranian citizen. We have suffered years in sanctions
imposed by the US and other governments from one side and got restricted in
every aspects of our life by the religous governors on the other side ,here in
Iran and that was the internet which has opened a new life for us or at least
those who can have access to the world through this small window.Travelling to
other countries is not such an easy or practical decision for us.Through the net
I was able to know so many people of other countries and made friends with them
regardless of our political interests and just based on our cultural backgrounds
and the way we started knowing each other.I could introduce myself and my
country to those who have just heard about Iran in their high school history
books or their prejudice presses. It is also a nice place for stress releiving
and relaxation for those who feel suffocation in their
society, examples of which are the personal weblogs .Another benefit of the net
for me is that I have a lot of friends , expatriated Iranians, in other
countries ,to whom I can't have talked even once in a year but now we can chat
everyday and they can chat with their families and friends and this has caused
them to overcome their homesickness. They have been closed to each other and that
is a nice feeling for them.
In brief , Internet has opened a window of hope for so many people in the world
having the same conditions as ours.Nowadays our govenment trys to filterize the
internet here and avoid the people to access any site on the net like political
oppsitions and of course adult sites.Do you think it is a wise decision?
Cheers
Reza
