piping lengths are not cut a to exact lengths from the mill and are normally delivered from 20 ft plus to 21 feet plus... So when you order a standard 20 ft length of pipe it is delivered a random length from 20 ft a couple inches to 21 ft a couple inches IE: the random length..... When ordering a double length ( a 40 footer) it also is delivered a random length of a least 40 ft plus

I think for single random lengths, the length differences occur at only one end; with double random the differences occur at both ends. Sorry--couldn't resist.
