inert gas purging for SS pipe

I want to know why we are giving inert gas purging while welding SS pipe using GTAW process.

If the answer is to prevent the oxidezation, why we are not giving purging for CS pipe and for SS pipes using SMAW process. Received on Fri Aug 06 04:49:00 2004
