in moresby the good cars , which is anything that drives properly are behind razor wire fences. It was unsafe backcountry in 1985, Ex colleagues at KRTA say it got worse after that. They wont go anymore.
Hold ups on the bush roads (essentially any road) are the biggest danger and so easy to pull off without a trace.
If its the Freeport Mine Esp. Lake Wannagan dam run a mile. Theres violent killings regularly in local anti reaction against the whole organisation. Has been for years and a constant volcano of trouble (read widespread collateral damage). Almost impossible to do anything constructive from a practical sense. The problems are deep , widespread and incipient.
did you get your other donation sorted out? do you need a second one?.

Subject: [PipingDesign] OT New Guinea
Gents+1
I am about to be asked to go to New Guinea (NG) to check out a small
hydro power station that is misbehaving. Probably pipes, or crap
governor response. To check it out I am sure I will have to go bush
(walk the pipeline).
Before I am asked I would like to have a response, and I heard NG a
bit dodgy; spears and guns and stuff.
Is it as bad as I have been told, or is it a beat up?
I had heard the highlands are OK but stay away from the lowlands
including Moresby. Being a hydro, I guess it will be close to high
country.
My initial response is "No" but I can repay a favour by going. Hence
my question.
Anyone been there?
Advice?
Dont want to get shot until I am at least 85.
Cheers
Steve
