Another answer to the "Nominal bore " question: "Nominal " means name so in
piping - pipe size is refered to by Nominal bore. Bore is obviously an important
dimension, but if you look in your catalog like someone suggested you will find
the bores are also not exactly 1/2" or 1" but have an odd exact dimesion which
would be cumbersome (hard) to repeat verbally. In the US we have lumber which is
Nominally called a " 2 by 4 " it is not 2" by 4" but we call it by "name " a 2
by 4
