hanger corrosion

Re your corroding hangers.. definitely it was a mistake if corrosion rated hangers were not purchased
originally. every hanger vendor has that option.....If they were ordered that way it is a manufacturer issue, and you need to take this up with the vendor for selling an inadequate product. However perhaps they werent advised properly of the environment. These are the background aspects you should research before posing such a question.

WE have found from long experience not to mess about with painting. take every piece down to the galvanizers, do qc on the metal prep (need sspc6 - Nace3 minimum) and insist on the importance of adequte preparation and coating quality. The ball is in your court on getting above average galvanized coating quality, but if you do this will beat the problem.

Even galvanised or stainless products rust eventually , but it does not become a failure issue if properly coated and the coating is good enough that the rust remains surface only and passivation is still largely maintained.

if youre looking for free advice perhaps you could rephrase "Non-experienced person need not bother to reply." Everybody has something to contribute.

cheers

hello all,

we are facing a problem regarding the corrosion of the constant spring hanger parts. Our refinery is located near to the sea. the spring parts are damaged due to severe corrosion and pitting due to which one spring failed. So can anybody suggest type of paint we should use to prevent corrosion. Non-experienced person need not bother to reply.

regards
