Parag,
All the welds should be ground flush.
I think you are talking about the pre-poly reactor lines.
In such type of piping, there should be sufficient flanged joints and the
FW or FFW should be on the neck of the flange so that it becomes
accessible. There should be no elbows in such lines, the line is to be bent
to 5D radius in order to reduce the number of welds.
Since this is a very specialized type of piping, contractor needs to be
educated.
If necessary a site revision of the isos can be done to revise the note as
required.
Have a nice day.

Dear Paul,
I have joined the group recently and this is my first query. Im at Poland site right now for one of our projects. The query is we have a note for certain process lines on the PID and we put the same note on ths isos but in a different manner....
The note we put on iso was: "for internal weldings ASME B31.3 to be applied if welding can be inspected and welds to be ground flush, otherwise is mandatory the use of tig technology"
I think the note should have been:
Now the debate at site is if the welds are unaccessible position in case of field welds, then inspection is not possible and if tig technology is alternatively used then ground flush reqt to be waved off. The quality people from the contractoprs side are saying that we will provide tig technology for all welds and that's all.
We have to give a decision.
Please reply .
Regards,
parag
