Hello,

Thanks for the reply received regarding Steam Tracing. As said by Mr. Murthy generally 3mm Plate of same material as of core pipe is used for reinforcing at the area where steam from jumpers hit. But I just want to confirm that for jacket of 3" with 5 bar a. and length about 80 mtrs is it really necessary to use the plates, I have done some calculation for steam consumption in jacketed lines and from that mass flow rate I have calculated the velocity that would be in the jumpers which are 1" in dia. As far as my calculation are concern I have found very low velocities of about 2-3 m/sec.I dont think for low velocities, pads would be needed, isnt it ? hope to hear from anyone of you soon.

Bye
