Though the question looks very simple but the answer is required because we are facing lots of problem in the existing valves. We have installed Dual plate valves in the pump discharge line vertically which is the general practice. But the valves are not serving satisfactorily. It was installed before five years back and now we are observing some leak which is causing us a headache at the time of the scheduled maintenance of the pump. There has been long discussions with vendors but we are not completely satisfied with their replies.

Through this forum I intended to know the general installation practices followed elsewhere and hence I have asked this straight question . Also it is known that very elementary questions do not have simplified answers and this site is created not only for experts but to give maximum benefit to the avid learners if not beginners.

If you look at some of my queries in the past e.g. a so called more complex question - one regarding constant spring hanger operating under occasional load and vibrating structure , I received not even a single clue from the site.

The company where I work does not require any introduction. So let us work in the best interests of the engineering fraternity which are at hard times now and finding survival difficult. We solicit worthwhile , good counsel, advice and tips ,snippets of wisdom from the experts, and not so experts. This will go a long way in scripting a success story for the group which till day has done a fine job.
