This article explains (sort of) how a CPU is built:

But it doesn't discuss the "piping" of the motherboard. This one does, in fairly good detail:

Reading through it quickly, does it not sound like piping routing at a microscopic scale? Electrical current is a fluid as long as we don't constrain it to a liquid or gas (or semi-solid) traditional definition, right?
