Hi guys,
I am working on a LPG/NGL recovery project. There is a heat exchanger having Aluminium flanges that to be mated with off-skid piping flange of carbon steel. No . of bolts & bolt circle dia of aluminium flanges are in accordance with ANSI B16.5 so geometry is not a issue but I have concern regrding the mating of two different materials i-e C.S and Aluminium. Is there any requirement of putting any insulating ring between the flanges to avoid galvanic corrosion. What is the industry practise. Can any body inform about the related standards or website. Similarly is there any such a requirement for mating of carbon steel flanges with stainless steel ones.
Regards,
