API 6D specifies a maximum force of 360N to be applied at the valve handwheel with the proviso that the handwheel diameter does not exceed valve face-to-face or end-to-end dimension or 1000mm whichever is smaller. This is the code requirement irrespective of the operator's size.

What is the nominal rim pull for globe/gate valve handwheels as experienced by those of you that specify them? Assuming that an operator could be a 98lb weakling or a 275lb trained gorilla, what is appropriate?
