Paul,

I'm afraid that you can't find anything published. There are so many variables it's hard to pin it down.

The only thing I could give you is what our Estimators used. This is based on normal shop conditions. This time will include set-up and welds. Please take this with a grain of salt, because other companies might have their own set of standards.

So here it is on the average : 12.92 minutes per diameter inch of pipe.

Example :

10" pipe : 129.20 minutes (2.15 hours) (set-up & weld)

Regards,

Ed

I asked this before but didn't get a response.

How long does it take to make various size butt welds? Obviously this must depend partially on wire diameter and number of passes but I haven't been able to find anything informative on the web.

Paul
