We are coming across lot of Engg. materials in Piping Design field, with a
variety of
Test Certificates.
I think it will be better if we discuss / share our knowledge by initiating discussions here about some of them.
As a beginning I will start with HIC (Hydrogen Induced Cracking).
I think HIC test requirement is there for materilas used in Crude Oil service
where there
is a high Hydrogen Ion concentration.
But we are specifying sometimes a maximum 0.43 % of Carbon Equivalent also along
with
HIC testing.
Has anybody got any Clue.. what is the significance of this 0.43% CE?
Is it related to Hardness ?

Balakrishnan
