Paul,

I had this problem once before. We had special nuts manufactured, three times the height of a standard nut, and used these in the middle of the wafer check to join short stud bolts together.

Thanks again Steve, good advice even though I'm being a bit flippant and
trollish below.

There is a 90 degree elbow directly connected to the flange, so there is
possible interference. A scale Autocad drawing makes this obvious, but
the "double curve" of the ell makes it hard to tell if things will fit.

Maybe I need FEA software.
