hi all ,

i will like to know that, ,preference of butt weld over socket weld has to do anything with size of pipe or fluid which is passing through that pipe?

Butt weld joints are always the preffered weld for high pressure services, it has better strength, better fatigue life in vibrating pipes, and can be inspected through radiography for any weld defects. Hope it has replied your query.
