Dear Tanmoy,
For terrastrial plants, steam would be the right choice, because of its ease of application and easy availability as low energy source.
But when one has to keep the piping system warm in an offshore platform, (for example) there is no alternative but to go for electricity. Efficiency factor comes next after this, for consideration. Regards.
