Dear Mr Vayani,
The isolation valve is a normal gate or ball valve. But refer to relevant codes 31.3 , Asme Sec VIII , API RP 520 /521 or refer your project specification and design basis . Most of the projects I have worked with,we have used Gate valves. The code requirement is that the pressure drop across the isolation valve should not affect the relieving capacity of the relief valves .
