You should periodically
monitor pressure drop across the screen. We typically
remove the screen after 6 months of continous flow.
Im not sure it this practice is feasible in large refineries or a major petrochem? . To monitor dP, a gage or transmitter has to be installed u/s and d/s of where the screen is located. Thats a major expense. One of the things we do is actually reduce PM which does lil things to improve our bottom line I guess this kind of task is a good candidate .
