Projected inlet is a full pipe through a tank wall

Square inlet is a pipe flush with the inside of a tank wall     Bell mouth is a rounded inlet to the nozzle to give a smoother transition to the smaller diameter.

If you go to www.haestad.com and look up the Advanced Modelling of Water distribution Sytems you will see this explained. The book can be purchased or reviewed for free on the Intermnet.
