From the way your question is worded, you must be running an electric drive compressor. Assuming you do not have a programmable logic controller that is loading and unloading the cylinders, which could give a record, then the next best approach would be to put a recorder on the motor current, or on the signal that controls the deactivation. Changes in operating pressures would be expected to give a gradual change in motor current. But deactivation/reactivation of cylinders should give a significant, step change in current. This would give a record of status. But a simple total of power usage is not going to show breakdown of time between various states of loading.
