Re: difference between pneumatic test & hydrostatic test
- If youre working with a process line, suggest you go over the
requirements stated in ASME B31.3 related to hydro and pneumatic
testing - its intent/purpose and application.
- I dont fully agree with the comment made by master_halda.
- Let us say that the pressure test is for repair and alteration of
pressure retaining parts defined in National Board INspection Code.
Aha, then pressure test is to MAWP not exceeding the psv set
pressure using water or other liquid medium. Consider also the
effect of temp. And what about the holding period or when the
pressure test is not practical?
