Rick,

I have no first hand knowledge of CAEPIPE myself I have used CAESAR II since its inception.

However I am sure CAEPIPE being a comercial product will produce suitable results in the hands of a competent practioner. All beam element software programs use a simplified approach to analysis as based in the B31 codes.

This doesn't help you out perse but I suggest you explore all your alternatives fully I believe you will be able to download limited trial software from the various companies to try before you buy.

Your software choice may end up not being your choice in the end. Often times owners will require there work to be done using a specific piece of software (yes CAESAR II is very prevalent). In cases where I have had to use software other than CAESAR II I have bought limited run licenses if possible.

Good luck in your process and remember to think at all times!!!!! (as opposed to some of the meatheads who post questions in this forum)

   John,

As a member of B31.3 & a piping stress analyst, is CAEPIPE stress analysis software by SST comparable in performance with COADE's CAESAR II? As far as I know COADE's CAESAR II is being utilized by large EPC companies but this software is very expensive and is not practical to use in private practice. SST's CAEPIPE is more cheaper. What's your opinion on this matter.

   Thanks.
