Gentlemen:
My line is air conditioning and in one project I was involved, the owner brought in an "expert" to verify the direction of airflows leaving the duct. He used a simulation technique called Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) which he claimed to be in use since the 70's. He also said that the computer simulation can be used on any fluid whether contained (as in pipes, tanks, etc.) or free flowing, with applicable parameters put in, of course.
Has anyone used the technique in analyzing the current subject (surge/water hammer)? Comments, please.
Thanks.
