The operative word is 'vibrant.' The ASME hasn't been 'vibrant' for
years. The governing board has been throwing around all sorts of
management-speak buzz words for year, but the fact is that they haven't
been attracting younger members or really doing all that much for the
members they have.
I agree that professional (more accurately 'technical') societies are
important things for any profession, but what's the good if they've
lost their focus?
