unlisted materials may be used but their applicabilty is your responsibilty. 302.3.2, 323.1.2 B31.3 -2004

The reason materials don't get listed, especially relatively little
used materials, is that no one's needed the material badly enough to
take the trouble of making a request. There's a process for getting
hitherto unlisted materials approved for use, but it probably involves
something like submitting a Code case for Section VIII. Check the back
of your code book and see how it's done. It isn't one of those things
that happens overnight, so if you need the stuff for a meeting in the
morning, you're out of luck. It's permitted for ASME Code Section VIII
1 use, but not Section I or Section III, so probably the necessary
supporting property data is around somewhere, and maybe just needs a
review by the cognizant committee.

Be aware that there's a big difference between ASME/ANSI B16.x and
B31.x. The former are simply geometry standards for specific
components; the latter is a design code aimed at safe incorporation of
components. Your over-riding interest is the Code provisions. Design
codes may permit certain standardized components, but not everything
with a standardized geometry makes the cut with a given design Code.
