Since you are already working as a piping designer, this is my suggestion:
After work and on your own time, go to the field and visit with the people who are working on your project. Make friends, observe and ask questions, know what they like about your design and what they don't. Ask for their opinion and their preference for anything comes to your mind. Don't feel bad if you don't know, no one was born knowing it all. Remember what this 55 year old guy tells you and take all suggestions very seriously. I learned from the past that every concern I heard, comes back to haunt you if you don’t evaluate.
10 years down the road, you will be preaching about plant piping. Good luck.
