Piping for Diluted Sulfuric acid service

Dear all,

For Diluted Sulfuric acid we have 3 choices.

  1. FRP (Fibre reinforced piping)
  2. Duplex stainless Steel (ASTM A790 Gr. S31803)
  3. Polypropylene Lined Carbon Steel Piping.

FRP is complicated design work. (Special supports design, Complicated stress analysis etc)

PP lined CS piping is easy to design. However we need to use lot of Break flanges, lot of welding, special spool drawings etc.

Duplex SS piping is expensive. Also weld quality control is headache. (Controlling interpass temperature, backing gas requirement, Impact testing of welds, hardness testing of welds etc)

Though all looks complicated, my inclination is towards PP lined CS piping.

   Any thoughts....

   Regards.
