OT: PipingDesign Kills Webpages

I just happened to notice that a site linked as part of my "Current Interesting Links" at the main page has already gone dead.

What do readers think of organizations that publish webpages and then take them down/re-assign the URLs so that so-called "deep-linking" no longer functions?

As I see it, this is shooting themselves in the foot.

What I try to do is provide links of interest for you guys (that I've reviewed and deemed interesting) but some organizations want you to wade through their PR/front page maze and have to hunt for their good stuff.

Can readers provide examples of good technical sites that do not treat their visitors like there's a 400lb bouncer restricting access or forcing the visitor to jump through hoops?

I'll bet that the worst offending sites in this regard were not created by engineering-types. That would be the typical tactics of engineering's worst arch-enemy, marketing.
