If the branch connection is at 90 deg or perpendicular to the pipe, (2-sin beta) is 1.

If the branch connection is at an angle of <90 deg, the cutout area (or coupon) will be oval shape which is larger than the flow area of the branch pipe by (2 - sin beta).

   A 45 deg branch connection the coupon will be (2-sin pi/4) = 29.3% larger than a coupon from a 90 deg branch.

Please explain me about Branch connection calculation in B31.3 why A1 multiply by (2-sin?)?
