You're mistaken. There are plenty of small bore pipe sizes--as little
as 1/8 inch--and plenty of large bore tube sizes--up to 24 inches. It
depends on the applicable specifications. Pipe diameters and wall
thickness are specified by ANSI B36.10 for steel and the analogous
listings for other materials. Everything else is tube. Tube is also
supplied with a rectangular cross section--pipe never is.
