The practice here is generally that repairs are permissible to
restore the system to compliance with the original Code for the
original maximum allowable working pressure. Specific rules are
provided in the National Board UR standard. Sounds like what you're
asking is OK, providing you don't do anything weird in the repairs.
In fact the Piping Codes apply to new construction. Once the piece leaves the fab shop original Code no longer applies.
