I know how to manipulate code and run and test it in a sandbox so that it doesn't F-up everything. Typically, when I propose that "X" can be done I'm met with blank stares and "well, maybe we'll propose that for the next project".

On-site CAD support people often are just glorified software support technicians that have no authority or knowledge of how the software actually works. This is not helpful for the designers.

Maybe I'm not a typical piping designer; I just want things to work, period. If it doesn't work, I'll try to fix it.

Aargh.
