The inside ring of the gasket will be in touch with the fluid. The chemical resistance of stainless steel for formic acid is good in all the range from 304 to 316, hence there should be no problem.

   Hello,

I need small help on selecting the Gasket.

In one of our design for Chemical Injection skid,

We have Formic Acid Tank and Formic Acid Injection    Pump skid.

The Line connecting from Formic Acid Tank to the Pump    is of 2" in size and the pipe material is "ASTM A312    TP 316 SEAMLESS" as per ANSI B36.19/10.

The Flanges used are "A182 F316, WELD NECK RAISED FACE    WITH 300#" as per ANSI B16.5

The Gasket used are "1.5mm Graphite / metal laminate    having reinforment lamella of Nickel or AISI 316" as    per ANSI B16.21.

The design has been made as per the piping    specification says.

Now the Question Arised from the Client is:

Will the inner ring of Gasket gets corode? and is    there any chances of leakage because of corrosion and    does this affect the flanges too?

Now I need your guidlines and suggestion:

If gasket does have any such problem then what is the    solution or what type of gasket we need to use?

Is there any alternatre solution to this? if such    problem really occurs.

Expecting your guidelines and suggestions please...

   Thanks and Regards,
