As-Built Work, Laser Scanners

Coade has a nice PDF that makes some reasoned arguments for laser scanning:

I was unable to select and copy relevant text from the article so that the reader (you) can preliminarily evaluate the content. That "feature" should probably be corrected.

Although scanning is expensive, it does mostly remove the human error possibility. Anyone who has had to rework piping because one critical dimension of an existing facility was "off" or improperly collected knows what I mean.
