ASME B31 Appendix Z

During my visit to Seattle we saw a question regarding branch connections which consumed a lot of time because many people couldn't figure out exactly what the drawing represented.

This was confusing to me, as a technical drawing is supposed to be clear and concise. As a newbie observer, I didn't speak out.

Some comments on the graphic were:

• "it looks like someone is designing a new fitting"
• "what's that squiggly part?"
• "which part is the branch and which part is the header?"
• "are we supposed to be teaching?"
