You want to be real careful with statements like this. There are
dozens of varieties of bronze alloys, some suitable for sea water,
some not. Of the ones suitable for sea water some do well in tidal
zones, others for flowing sea water and still others for quiescent
water. Same for stainless. I've seen a couple of episodes where
welded 304 stainless turned to mush in sea water because the welding
procedure was unsuitable. I also found a stainless fitting with a
tiny hole corroded all the way through the thickness which was found
during a pressure test.
