Bruce,

Can you please advise a little more on this type of Pipes.

  1. Which are the areas use of this type of pipes can be specified?
  2. This pipe will replace what types of pipes previously used: GI, Copper..?
  3. What is the price of say 1/2', 3/4" pipe in USD/ Metre in USA
  4. Design Life expectency of this pipes vs: Cu or GI ? Can we take 30/50 years guranteed Design life?
  5. What happens in case of a fire?
  6. You said the Pipe is less prone to get into solution.. less than which pipe?
  7. Is there a specification standard to be reffered to by manufacturer/ Designer/ Buyer
  8. Is this food grade Product?

Is it too much to ask? I was very impressed looking at the samples & colors of this pipes and want to use it.

           Jamal,

PE pipe has several advantages for laboratory water:

  1. easy and less costly to run (glued, not threaded, flanged or welded)
  2. smoother bore and "cleaner" fittings, less chance for debris to buildup and much less opportunity for biota (microbes, bacteria) to buildup
  3. less to dissolve or extract into the water, leading to contamination

Lab water use is fairly erratic, so buildup of "crud" can be more of a problem that other uses. Uniformity of quality throught the system and over extended period of times is also important.
