For industrial applications refer EN ISO 15494. For water supply applications refer EN 12201 1/2/3. Refer ASTM D3350 & DIN 8074.

Also refer PPI plastic pipe institute which gives an overview of ASTM approach and ISO approach.

All the above are to be looked into to really understand the grades in the market and variation between the
manufacturers of the strengths of the same grade under different life expectancy as application is not limited to water but gases and the range is growing and with demanding design conditions.

In gulf area it is always used only in u/g.

Refer this link to have an idea of the components in PE grades and thier joining methods.

Can any one guide me what is the advantage of pre insulated poly ethylene (PE-100 pipes) in chilled water underground piping. How the joints are making . Is there pre insulated fittings are available. Your advice will be very Helpfull in this regards Jamal
