You will never see ad hominem attacks or genuinely nasty personal insults here (actually, all the reputable engineering discussion sites are like this) because our members are professionals, and professionals are able to take criticism even if sometimes newcomers are given "the initiation".
The lamers/pretenders/interlopers get offended or bored and leave; the truly dedicated hang around and learn and contribute (but not by infringing others' copyright). If you stick around long enough you'll see more posts here from some of the other bigger names in the business that you'll recognize.
