I know someone that knows CAESAR a little bit, and he thinks that the
subscript "1" applies to the initial stiffness of the buried restraint,
while the subscript "2" refers to the post yield tangent stiffness. Fy
is the point where the program changes from K1 to K2. The American
Lifelines Alliance web site has good information on this topic and as I
recall there was a fairly well-written portion in the CAESAR user's
guide covering the topic of buried pipe. The CAESAR buried pipe
modeller will estimate these values from general properties such as
undrained shear strength, etc. but the user is responsible for the
accuracy of the resulting property estimates.
Establishing values to use for K1 and K2 for buried systems and in particular for mixed soil types is a subject of much past, and some present study.

Subject: [PipingDesign] A question to the CAESAR
Hello every one
Can anyone help me please?
I just have learned piping stress analysis and now I tried to calculate
flow line from wellhead platform to buried line
The calculation of buried pipe use restraints type X2, Y2 or Z2 as model
soil support in the piping input CAESAR II
The problem is in the restraints type X2, Y2 or Z2 found K1 defined as
restraint stiffness, K2 defined as the gap and Fy defined as MUfriction
coefficient
The question is how we destine numerals of K1, K2 & Fy section
Is there defined provision for this case?
If there is someone have known CAESAR program please let me know
Thanks to all
