It must be the base support which Ravi is referring to, as Richard has rightly pointed out. The pipe movement must be the reason for changing over to the shoe type support.
The designer who has changed it from the base support to the shoe support should have justified it with an explanation, for the change.
It is a common mistake, calling a base support, a trunnion and vise versa.
